Good Neighbors International Code of Conduct

Introduction

  1. This edition

This 1st edition of the Code of Conduct was agreed by GNI to be operative from 21, April 2011. (History and contents of further revision will be shown here.)

2. Objectives

The Code of Conduct clarifies the standards of behavior that are expected of all GNI staff members in the performance of their duties. It gives guidance in areas where staff needs to make personal and ethical decisions. The main objectives of this code are:

2.1 to help staff members understand GNI’s ethical standards and act in accordance with the guidance;

2.2 to help the staff members serve the organization and local community with integrity and expertise;

2.3 to give clear guidance for staff members to actively communicate and cooperate with partnering organizations, related personnel, community members, and other colleagues with accountability in the course of their duty.

3. Who it applies to

3.1 All GNI staff members including Korea, field and support country staff

3.2 All full time staff including both regular and contracted staff

Code of Conduct

1. Employees and Associates must :

  • Respect children’s character.
  • Respect children’s opinions and views.
  • Recognize children’s individualities.
  • Strive to ensure that children are not exposed to dangerous situations or environments.
  • Strive to ensure that children are not involved in, or associated with, illegal activities.
  • Strive to help children break free from child labor.

2. Employees or Associates shall not :

  • Show preference towards, or discriminate against a child.
  • Become involved in or ignore child abuse.
  • Humiliate the child the child.
  • Use inappropriate or abusive language to a child.
  • Engage in physical abuse against the child, in any instance.
  • Have sexual relations with a child.
  • Commit any acts that may sexually provoke a child.
  • Create any implications of inappropriate acts or relations with a child.
